Mannikin(Lonchura), a genus of birds of the family of finches

FINCHES (Lonchura), a genus of birds of the family of finches weaverbirds. Clever movable birds. About 30 species. Common in South-East Asia, Australia, Africa, the Islands of the Malay archipelago. The inhabitants of open landscapes, they live among vegetation on the ground, in dense thickets along the edge of the forest plantations, and in gardens and parks.
